What to Look For in an Inexpensive Laptop

If you are looking to purchase a new laptop and you have a budget of around $400 or so, there are a number of models that may be able to fit your needs. You will need to do a bit of research to find the specific brand and model that is best but you should have no trouble finding a few good laptops that will give you various functions and features for around this price.

Laptops range in cost from just a few hundred dollars to a few thousand. Those who are looking for a device that will perform the simplest and most basic functions should be able to find many brands available for well under the $400 mark. If you simply need something that will enable you to browse the internet, check your email and play a few games then a cheaper model is certainly going to do that. If however you need a laptop that offers higher level gaming functions and capabilities, you may not be able to get what you need for a lower cost. Alienware for instance is a major gaming laptop producer and many of their latest models cost well over the $1,000 mark.

There are a few basic features that you should check for before you buy even a cheaper laptop model. You want to know that you are getting a relatively high processing speed and a battery life of at least 4 hours or more. Many of the cheaper models are built specifically for lower cost and many not offer the features that you actually need. This is why it is paramount that you do your research prior to buying. Check out things such as size and weight, processing speed, RAM memory, screen size and resolution, battery life and overall quality. You also want to be certain that you are getting a good warranty to go along with your purchase. Many manufacturers offer additional warranties of up to two years or more that will help to ensure that you are protected from manufacturer defects should you come across any. Think about the warranty that comes standard with your laptop and whether or not you need to purchase an additional warranty for protection.

Depending on your actual budget, you may not be able to find a cheap laptop that is going to fulfill all of your needs as required but you should be able to come relatively close. ASUS, Dell, HP and various other manufacturers offer fairly cheap laptops with regards to overall cost but again, you need to ensure that the model you select is going to meet your computing needs. Take the time to think about specifically what you are going to be doing and what you need regarding function. Once you know the type of laptop that will best serve your needs, you can begin to compare prices for models that meet those needs and find the one that is a good choice regarding computing as well as your specific budget.
